Orange & Blue Debut Weekend Kicks Off Friday

The Gator Football team will kick off the 2009 season with the annual Orange and Blue Debut Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. With numerous activities surrounding the Orange and Blue Game, the University of Florida campus is the place to be this weekend for Gator fans of all ages.
“It's been a great spring and we've had some great practices,” Florida head coach Urban Meyer said. “We're excited to be in the stadium and get some live reps in front of a great crowd. This weekend is a celebration of Gator Athletics - from baseball to women's tennis to our fastest fan competition, it will be a great weekend for the Gator Nation."
On Saturday morning from 8-9 a.m., Meyer will greet fans at Gate 1 of the stadium and host a signing of his book, Urban's Way, in an effort to help raise funds for UF's Florida Opportunity Scholars Program.
The Gator FanFest will begin at 10 a.m. outside of Gate 7 of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and gates will open for the afternoon's events at 11:30 a.m. Prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff of the Orange and Blue Debut, UF Student Government will host the 2009 Powder Puff Football Championship Game at noon on Florida Field. In addition, the finals of the Fastest Gator On Campus, a contest in the 40-yard dash, will be held following the Powder Puff Championship, just before kickoff of the spring game. Participants who qualify at Friday's semifinals will race against select members of the 2009 Florida football team.
For added convenience, shuttle buses will run all day Saturday from the commuter lot on Gale Lemerand Drive (south of Museum road) to Gate 2 of the O'Connell Center. Buses will run from 10 a.m. until Saturday night.
