Amelia Lewis (Jacksonville, Fla.) signed an SEC Financial Aid Agreement with the University of Florida women's golf team, as announced on Monday.
“Florida is very fortunate to have a young woman of such talent in both golf and the classroom,” said head coach Jill Briles-Hinton. “Amelia is a hard-worker, a competitor and an outstanding all-around individual. I have no doubt that she will help the Lady Gators win championships.”
Lewis, who attends The Bolles School in Jacksonville, brings a long list of accomplishments and honors with her to the University of Florida. A three-time Florida All-First Coast Player of the Year (2006-08), Lewis has claimed seven tournament titles in the past two years. In 2007, she claimed the FHSAA Class 1A District and Regional Championship for Bolles. That same year, she earned the Van Etten Bent Award for outstanding contribution to athletics at Bolles.
Lewis took home five tournament crowns in 2008, including wins at the IJGT Amelia Island Plantation, Callaway Golf PGA Junior Series New Mexico State and the AJGA Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic. She was the 2008 JAGA Junior Girls 15-18 and NCC CMAA women's champion. Lewis was named the 2008 AC Skinner Award recipient and garnered All-American honorable mention honors by Rolex.
In addition to all of her individual titles, Lewis lists carding the lowest tournament round at IJGT Amelia Island (67-69), lowest round at the 2007 FHSAA District competition (66) and making a birdie on hole #7 at Pebble Beach as her most cherished golf moments.
