New Florida Lacrosse Facility Nears Completion
Tuesday, July 14, 2009 | Lacrosse
On August 1, the Gator lacrosse program will have a new home on campus when construction on its first-class facility is scheduled to be completed. The new facility is located at Hull Road and Natural Area Drive, just south of Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium. The Gators have their home opener scheduled for February 20, 2010 against Jacksonville.
Updates on the construction process and photos of the facility can be found at the Florida Lacrosse Facility page.
The project for the Gator lacrosse program broke ground in the summer of 2008. The facility will have two lacrosse fields - one for competition and another for practice. The 1,500-seat stadium will run the length of the game field, offering fans a great view of this fast-paced sport. The stadium will include all the amenities needed for the team and fans - locker room, a training room, equipment storage, concession stands, press box and rest rooms.
A practice field for Florida's nationally-ranked soccer team will also be a part of the facility. The Florida soccer practice field, currently located just north of softball stadium, will become a University of Florida recreation field, starting in the summer of 2009.
