Sun Sports, FOX Sports South and FOX Sports Southwest today announced the debut of SEC Gridiron LIVE, a 60-minute studio show offering game previews, expert analysis and a fast-paced social networking component that enables fan interaction. Premiering on Wednesday, September 2 at 10 p.m. ET, SEC Gridiron LIVE is hosted by broadcasting veteran Charles Davis, with analysts Randy Cross and David Pollack and social media reporter Cassidy Hubbarth.
SEC Gridiron LIVE will be distributed to more than 24 million cable and satellite households on the FSN regional networks throughout the SEC territory.
Complementing Sun Sports, FOX Sports South and FOX Sport Southwest's expanded coverage of the SEC, SEC Gridiron LIVE features interviews with players and coaches, extensive game breakdown, and debate and discussion of the weekend's upcoming SEC matchups. The live studio show also incorporates a dynamic social networking component, providing viewers with the opportunity for lively and immediate interaction with the on-air broadcast team and SEC football fans across the country.
"SEC football fans are the most passionate and opinionated college football fans in the country," said Steve Liverani, senior vice president and general manager of Sun Sports. "SEC Gridiron LIVE gives SEC football fans the opportunity to interact and debate every Wednesday night throughout the college football season with each other and with our team of experts in studio. This will not be your basic college football 'talking heads' show; it is uniquely different because fan participation is an integral part of the show."
SEC Gridiron LIVE host Charles Davis has an extensive background covering college football. The former Tennessee defensive back was part of FOX's BCS broadcast team and has a broad college football background through work with the Big Ten Network, TBS college football coverage of the Big 12 and Pac-10, and Jefferson Pilot's SEC coverage. He has also co-hosted sports shows and series on Sun Sports.
"As a former SEC football player and a lifelong fan, I am thrilled for the opportunity to host SEC Gridiron LIVE," said Davis. "SEC football fans are incredibly knowledgeable and opinionated, and our show gives them the chance to voice their views and opinions each week. That spirited interaction among fans and the on-air team is what will set SEC Gridiron LIVE apart and it's something that really excites me. I'm looking forward to working with Randy, David and Cassidy to make this show very special."
Joining Davis on SEC Gridiron LIVE are analysts Randy Cross and David Pollack. Cross earned three Super Bowl championships with the San Francisco 49ers during his 13-year NFL career and has been an NFL analyst for CBS Sports, host of The NFL Today and part of CBS Sports' coverage of the NFC Playoffs and the Super Bowl. Former University of Georgia defensive end and three-time All-American David Pollack was a first round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2005.
Overseeing SEC Gridiron LIVE's social media component is Cassidy Hubbarth. Hubbarth has served as a reporter for the Big Ten Network. She also hosts and reports for Intersport's made-for-mobile original sports programming for Spring Exclusive Entertainment.
SEC Gridiron LIVE debuts on Wednesday, September 2 at 10 p.m. ET and runs for 15 weeks, concluding on Wednesday, December 9. The studio show will replay several times each week. Viewers should check their local listings for additional airings.
The FSN regional networks serving the SEC territory reach more than 24 million cable and satellite households. SEC programming will be distributed on Sun Sports in Florida; FOX Sports South in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky and Mississippi; FOX Sports Carolinas in North Carolina and South Carolina; FOX Sports Tennessee in Tennessee; and FOX Sports Southwest and FOX Sports Houston in Arkansas and Louisiana.
