Softball's Nelson Makes National Debut

Recent University of Florida senior Stacey Nelson (Los Alamitos, Calif.) made her first appearance on the USA National team as the Red, White and Blue defeated the Netherlands, 7-0, in the opening game of the Canada Cup in Surrey, British Columbia, on July 4.
The right-hander came in relief of starter Cat Osterman in the fifth. She forced three groundouts for a 1-2-3 inning, ensuring the U.S. win.
The Americans also won their second contest of the day, taking down Australia, 7-0, in five innings as well. They will face Venezuela on July 5 at 11:30 p.m. EST. For full coverage of the Canada Cup, visit www.canadacup.com.
