Softball's Nelson Strikes Out Three in Canada Cup Play

University of Florida recent senior Stacey Nelson pitched two innings and scored a run in the USA's 8-1 win over Venezuela on Sunday during the 2009 Canada Cup round-robin play.

The righty relieved Jennie Finch in the fourth with a 3-0 lead and did not allow a batter to reach base. She stayed in the game to hit and came up with a fielder's choice. With bases loaded and Nelson on third, Natasha Watley drew a walk to score the pitcher.

Nelson threw two complete innings, striking out three and allowing only one hit. Monica Abbott took over for the final two innings.
