The University of Florida women's golf team has added Isabelle Lendl (Bradenton, Fla.) to an already impressive 2009 recruiting class, as announced on Thursday.
“We are thrilled to have Isabelle joining the Gators for the fall of 2009,” said head coach Jan Dowling. “She brings a wealth of playing experience and her desire to excel at the collegiate level and beyond will be an asset to both her and the team.”
Lendl will join incoming freshman Amelia Lewis (Jacksonville, Fla.), Megan Pak (Bradenton, Fla.) and Mia Piccio (Bacolod City, Philippines) at the University of Florida in the fall of 2009.
The younger sister of current Lady Gator golfer Marika, Lendl brings with her an impressive junior golf resume. She is one of five UF women's golfers on the 2009-10 roster to attend the David Leadbetter Academy at IMG Academies in Bradenton.
Most recently in June of 2009, Lendl won the Eastern Amateur after carding a course-record 67 in her first round. She was named the GolfWeek Junior Golfer of the Week in February of 2009 after shooting a 2-under 142 (71-71) at Inverrary Golf Club's East Course to win the Future Collegians World Tour Inverrary Open by three shots. She did not place lower than fourth place in six events as a part of the 2008-09 FCWT Junior Golf Tour. She is currently ranked No. 24 in the class of 2009 and No. 12 in the state of Florida in the Golfweek/Titleist Junior Rankings.
Lendl was a member of the United States team in the 2006 Junior Ryder Cup, where she went 2-0 to help the U.S. earn a 6-6 tie. She earned three American Junior Golf Association tournament victories in 2006, including the MCI Junior Heritage, Scott Robertson Memorial and the Thunderbird International Junior.
The junior All-American was the youngest player to qualify for the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship at the age of 12.
