Dana Carvey Selected as Comedic Talent for 2009 Gator Growl Show
Thursday, July 9, 2009 | General
SNL legend and popular stand-up comedian Dana Carvey has been selected to perform as the comedic talent for the 2009 Gator Growl show. For over 7 years, Dana Carvey was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1986 to 1993. He has mastered multiple celebrity impersonations, and often would perform the ever popular SNL skit "The Church Lady."
Carvey was even offered the job of hosting the "Late Night" show on NBC, but turned the job down to Conan O' Brien for a career in the movie industry and as a stand-up comedian.
Carvey is also widely known for his role as Garth in the movie "Wayne's World."
Producer Matt Sloan said he is optimistic about the show and the opportunity to work with Dana Carvey. The Gator Growl staff feels that Dana Carvey's popularity will span a wide-range of audience members' preferences, appealing to both students and alumni as a well known comedian and SNL star. His family friendly stand up comedy is a perfect fit for the Gator Nation.
