Horn, Usery Complete Day One of Pan Am Championships

Florida decathlete Gray Horn (Wapakoneta, Ohio) currently is in second place through five events and sprinter Alishea Usery (St. Louis, Mo.) finished fourth in the finals of the women's 400-meter dash to wrap up the opening day of the 2009 Pan American Junior Track and Field Championships at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Horn, a 2009 NCAA Outdoor All-American, currently is in second place in the men's decathlon through the opening five events with a score of 3,740. He captured the men's long jump and posted runner-up finishes in the 100-meter dash and the high jump. Fellow American Curtis Beach leads the decathlon after the opening day with a score of 3,866.
Usery placed first overall in the preliminary round of the women's 400-meter dash in a time of 54.87, before finishing fourth in the finals in a time of 54.33.
