Gator Men's Basketball Unveils 2009-10 Conference Schedule
Thursday, August 20, 2009 | Men's Basketball
The Florida men's basketball team will open up the league portion of its 2009-10 schedule on Sat., Jan. 9, at Vanderbilt. The contest between the Gators and Commodores at Memorial Gym will be broadcast on ESPN.
As part of the SEC's new television contract, a staggering 12 of the Gators' 16 conference match ups, the most in school history, will be carried nationally on either the ESPN or CBS networks.
Additionally, game time has been set for Florida's mid-February match-up with Xavier, marking the first time the Gators will play a non-conference game during the SEC part of their season since 2003. Xavier will visit the friendly confines of the O'Connell Center, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast nationally by ESPN.
Florida will first hit the O'Connell Center hardwood for a two-game conference homestand on Tues., Jan. 12, against Kentucky, followed by a visit from LSU on Jan. 16. Florida will then take on Arkansas in Fayetteville (Jan. 21) before returning home to face Eastern Division rivals South Carolina (Jan. 23) and Georgia (Jan. 27). The Orange and Blue close out the month of January on the road against Tennessee Jan. 31.
The Gators will split eight February games, with four on the road and four at home, traveling to Alabama (Feb. 4), South Carolina (Feb. 10), Ole Miss (Feb. 20) and Georgia (Feb. 27). The Orange and Blue will play host to the 2009 SEC Tournament Champions, Mississippi State (Feb. 6), and will welcome non-conference opponent Xavier (Feb. 13) before continuing SEC action against Auburn (Feb. 18) and Tennessee (Feb. 23) in Gainesville.
March brings the home finale against Vanderbilt (March 2), accompanied by a road visit to Rupp Arena Sun., March 7, to take on Kentucky.
