While the 2009-10 campaign will be Orris' first year working with the hoops team, this is his seventh season overall working with Gators. During his first six years in Gainesville, Orris oversaw the development of student-athletes for the UF baseball and softball teams.
He will continue overseeing the conditioning program for the nationally-ranked UF softball squad, which advanced to the 2008 & 2009 NCAA Women's College World Series for the first two appearances in school history and claimed the 2008 and 2009 Southeastern Conference regular-season and tournament titles.
During his tenure with the Gators, Orris has produced two SEC Players of the Year (Matt LaPorta in 2005 & 2007 and Kristen Butler in 2006), two SEC Pitchers of the Year (Justin Hoyman in 2004 and Stacey Nelson in 2008 & 2009) and the baseball team's first-ever SEC Freshman of the Year (Preston Tucker in 2009)
His responsibilities include designing and implementing year-round strength, speed and conditioning workouts for the Gators in the Griffin/Oakley Strength and Conditioning Center. Orris guides each student-athlete through an individual training program designed to enhance strength as well as explosive power, speed, agility, endurance, coordination, balance and flexibility.
