Gator Gymnastics Team Recognized by NACGCA for Academics

The University of Florida gymnastics team was recognized by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches Association for its 2008-09 grade point average. The NACGC recognizes the academic accomplishments of collegiate gymnastics teams each season. The Gators posted a 3.265 cumulative team GPA for the 2008-09 academic year.
Six Gator gymnasts earned spots on the 2009 NACGC Scholastic All-America team.

To qualify for the NACGC Scholastic All-America team, a gymnast must have a GPA of 3.50 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above at the nominating institution.
Kerr and Zaiser qualify for the third consecutive year, while Goodwn makes her second appearance on the team. Ellis, Ferguson and Tissue make their first NACGC Scholastic All-America appearance in 2009. Two Gators, Ellis and Zaiser, turned in 4.0 grade point averages in the 2008-09 academic year.
During the 2009 season, the Gators (10-6) finished fourth in the NCAA Championships, marking the fifth top-five finish for the program since 2004. Florida collected its fifth consecutive NCAA Regional team title in 2009 and took third at the SEC Championships. Five Gators collected nine All-America honors.
