Wednesday, September 16, 2009 | Football
Gator Growl 2009 is proud to announce a third and final act for this year's event, the Jabbawockeez. The urban dance group will join comedian Dana Carvey and band O.A.R. on Oct. 16 as part of the largest student run production in the world.
The Jabbawockeez were first discovered on the television show America's Got Talent. The group went on to win America's Best Dance Crew and were awarded a touring contract. Since then, the masked dancers have appeared in Gatorade commercials, on The Ellen DeGeneres show and on Live with Regis and Kelly. They also performed at the N.B.A. all-star game alongside Shaquille O'Neal.
Gator Growl is in its 86th year at University of Florida. Hosted by Florida Blue Key, Gator Growl is produced by more than 500 student volunteers. The event is held each year the night before the Homecoming football game.
This year, Gator Growl will be honoring those members of the 2009 senior class that have brought us national fame, recognition, and championship titles with its theme “Legends of the Swamp”. From Tim Tebow to Danny Wuerffel, all of the big names in Florida Football will be honored at a show grand and fantastic enough to rival their stunning accomplishments in football. Over 50,000 Gator fans are expected to be there to send off our amazing senior class – our legends of the swamp.
