No. 7 Florida Soccer Team Plays Host Eastern Kentucky on Sunday

The No. 7 University of Florida soccer team (5-3, 0-0 SEC) finishes its non-conference schedule by playing host to Eastern Kentucky (3-5, 0-0 OVC) on Sunday, Sept. 20. Match time is set for 1 p.m. at the James G. Pressly Stadium. Admission is free for all 2009 Gator soccer regular-season matches.

Both teams are coming off Friday night losses. The Gators lost 1-0 in overtime to No. 5 Florida State. It was the first overtime in the 17-match series between the two teams. Friday's match between the two top-10 teams was evenly played, with both teams registering nine shots. It was sophomore Toni Pressley who hit the game-winner for the Seminoles in the 93rd minute. The match was played in front of a crowd of 3,526 – the fifth largest crowd in the program's 15-year history.
The EKU Colonels have lost their last two matches (3-2 to Cincinnati and 3-0 at Jacksonville). EKU won its two prior matches (2-0 vs. Cleveland State and 2-1 vs. Winthrop). Sophomore eather Bruce leads the Colonels this season with one goal and three assists for five points. Florida is the first Southeastern Conference opponent that Eastern Kentucky has met since the 2006 season (lost 7-0 to Kentucky on Sept. 1, 2006). Last season, EKU turned in an 8-8-3 record and finished fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference.
