Former Gator Nelson Named National Team Alternate

Former University of Florida standout Stacey Nelson (Los Alamitos, Calif.) was one of 13 athletes selected to be an alternate on the 2010 USA Softball Women's National Team, the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) announced.
Seventeen players were offered a USA Softball Athlete Agreement for the 2010 season after a selection camp in Chula Vista, Calif. The final roster for the 2010 USA Softball Women's National Team will be announced in March with the team competing in the ISF Women's World Championships, June 23-July 2 Caracas, Venezuela as well as other events to be scheduled at a later date.
Nelson was a member the U.S. National team during the 2009 season. She collected three wins over the summer and in 23 innings of work, she struck out 15 and allowed 19 hits. She allowed only two earned runs to bring her ERA to 0.61 and opponents hit .261 in international play.
