Women's Doubles Team Into Semifinals at Freeman Memorial Championships

The University of Florida women's tennis doubles team of Marrit Boonstra and Anastasia Revzina advanced to the semifinals of the Freeman Memorial Championships held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the campus of UNLV.
After a shutout in Friday's opening round match, the Gator pair was tested in Saturday's quarterfinal bout against Arizona State's Micaela Hein and Nadia Abdala, before earning the tough 9-7 victory.
Revzina came close to pulling a big upset on the singles court, but dropped a 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 decision to North Carolina's second-seeded Sanaz Marand.
UF freshman Caroline Hitimana won her consolation quarterfinal match, 6-0, 6-1 over UNLV's Jana Albers, but lost to Southern California's Cristala Andrews, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, in the semifinal round.
Sophomore Claire Bartlett also was in action on the singles court, where she defeated Arizona State's Ashlee Brown, 6-2, 6-3 in an additional match that was not part of either draw. Bartlett and Hitimana teamed and lost to UNC's third-seeded Katrina Tsang and Shinann Featherston, 8-1 in consolation doubles play.
Action continues on Sunday from the campus of UNLV, beginning with doubles at 10 a.m. PT, followed by singles play.
