For the 14th consecutive year, the Gator baseball team ranked among the nation's top-25 schools in attendance, finishing 17th during the 2009 season with an average of 2,981 fans per game, the NCAA recently announced. Florida was 13th in total attendance, as 119,252 fans attended games at McKethan Stadium last season.
The top five teams in the attendance rankings hailed from the Southeastern Conference. Defending national champion LSU claimed the top spot with 9,611 fans per contest, followed by Arkansas (7,906), Ole Miss (7,003), South Carolina (6,805) and Mississippi State (6,301). All 12 teams from the league were ranked in the top 41.
Florida opens its 2010 campaign on Feb. 19 with a three-game home series against USF. The Gators' first eight outings will be played on their own turf, where they were 30-10 (.750) last year. Season-ticket information is available by calling the Gator Ticket Office at 1-800-34-GoUF and single-game tickets will go on sale Monday, Feb. 1.
