Fifty-one Gators Selected to SEC Academic Honor Roll

Fifty-one University of Florida student-athletes were named to the 2009-10 Southeastern Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll on Friday by league commissioner Mike Slive. South Carolina led with 78 named to the list, while Georgia was second with 54.
The 2009-10 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2009 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
Florida's soccer team, which claimed its fourth consecutive SEC title last fall, set a program record with 18 players named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. The previous high of 15 came in the 2004-05 academic year.
The Gator volleyball placed 10 on the SEC Academic Honor Roll, which matches the program's high set in the 2006-07 academic year. A total of 23 Florida football players earned spots on the Academic Honor Roll.
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
