Howard to wear No. 62 to honor Abel

The Gators have arrived at their hotel here in Birmingham in preparation for Saturday night's game at No. 1-ranked Alabama.
When Florida takes the field on Saturday, DT Jaye Howard will be wearing No. 62 instead of his usual No. 6.
Howard is wearing No. 62 in honor of former Gator walk-on Lamar Abel, who joined the team as a walk-on prior to fall workouts in 2007 and 2008.
Abel dressed for five games at UF, playing against Hawaii, Miami, Arkansas, The Citadel and Oklahoma.
Abel passed away May 22 at the age 21 from cardiac-arrest symptoms. He was not part of the team at the time of his death.
At the time of Abel's passing, offensive coordinator Steve Addazio said: "Lamar was a proud member of our program and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time."
