Florida football coach Urban Meyer just concluded his spot on the weekly SEC media teleconference with reporters from around the country.
Here is a quick recap of what Meyer had to say:
--Redshirt WR Andre Debose suffered a “severe” ankle sprain against Mississippi State and is not practicing this week. Meyer hopes Debose can return to practice next week when the Gators start preparing for Georgia.
--Meyer said K Caleb Sturgis (back) and OL Matt Pachan (wrist) are recovering and he'll know early next week if they can return for the Georgia game. In other injury notes, Meyer said RB Jeff Demps (foot), LB Jelani Jenkins (concussion), RB Emmanuel Moody (leg), DT Jaye Howard (ankle) Mike Gillislee (hamstring) and OL Jon Halapio (broken hand) are at different stages of recovery. Their availability for Georgia remains uncertain.
--When asked about potential personnel and scheme changes on offense, Meyer said: “I think a little bit of both. I don't want to get into too much detail because it's not set yet.''
--Meyer said RB Chris Rainey, who rejoined the team last, is eligible to return to the field against Georgia. Meyer said he'll make the final decision on whether Rainey will play sometime early next week.
--A key emphasis before Georgia game will be creating more big plays in the running game. Meyer pointed out that the Gators haven't broken a big run since a 38-14 win over USF on Sept. 11 in the second game of the season.
--As for the bye week, Meyer said it's the most important one since he has been at Florida due to the multitude of injuries and addressing possible personnel and scheme changes on offense.
“We're trying to get some skilled players back and obviously get this thing turned around,'' he said.
