Head coach Becky Burleigh Previews SEC-Championship Deciding Match
Monday, October 25, 2010 | Soccer
University of Florida head coach Becky Burleigh addressed the media Monday morning as part of the Gators' All-Sports Media Day.
Coach Burleigh shared her assessment of last week's pair of home wins, as the Gators earned victories against LSU Thursday (W, 2-0) on the road and versus Arkansas (W, 3-1) at home Sunday afternoon.
She then previewed the team's regular-season finale, when No. 12 Florida (14-2-2, 8-1-1 SEC) travels to Columbia, S.C., to meet co-SEC leader South Carolina (14-3-2, 8-1-1 SEC) Friday, Oct. 29 in a decisive match for the 2010 Southeastern Conference title. Both Florida and No. 18 South Carolina have identical league records of 8-1-1 and share the top spot in the league standings.
Florida will be seeking its 11th title and South Carolina looks for its first SEC crown.
Coach also discussed and answered questions about what the Gators need to do on the road against South Carolina, on having the SEC title come down to the final regular-season game, on whether a regular-season or conference tournament title is more rewarding and on facing a tough South Carolina defense.
