The NCAA released its latest Graduation Success Rate data on Wednesday, and the University of Florida ranks second in the Southeastern Conference.
Florida student-athletes had a GSR of 82 percent, trailing only Vanderbilt's 93 percent among the SEC's 12 schools.
Alabama was third with a GSR of 81, and Mississippi State fourth with a GSR of 80.
“Achieving a diploma from the University of Florida is one of our primary goals,'' Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley said. “This latest GSR report shows that our student-athletes are showing success achieving this objective. We will continue to work with all our student-athletes to help them become Gator graduates.”
Here are the final GSR scores for the SEC's 12 schools: Vanderbilt (93), Florida (82), Alabama (81), Mississippi State (80), Georgia (77), Auburn (77), Tennessee (74), LSU (74), South Carolina (74), Kentucky (72), Arkansas (72) and Ole Miss (72).
The GSR was developed by the NCAA to more accurately measure the academic success of Division I student-athletes. Unlike the federal graduation rate, the GSR holds institutions accountable for transfer students.
The most recent GSR scores are based on the four entering freshmen classes in Division I from 2000-2001 through 2003-04.
