
Ashley Kerr to Receive 2010 Outstanding Leadership Award

Ashley Kerr, who finished her Gator gymnastics career last April, is one of three awarded with the Fall 2010 Outstanding Leadership Award for Graduating Seniors by the University of Florida Alumni Association. The other award recipients include Gemma Spofforth, a swimmer for UF, and Julie Dumbroff.
The marketing major with minors in mass communication and leadership was selected for her involvement around campus and in the community and her superior service efforts. Last fall, Kerr was a counselor at Climb for Cancer (a day for children with cancer to interact with Gator student-athletes), and a counselor at the Harvest Food Drive clinic, a gymnastics skills events for young gymnasts. She also participates in the many community service activities that the Gator gymnastics team supports, like the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, and Gator Tracks, a program where UF student-athletes purchase and deliver new shoes to children in need.
Kerr was the 2009-10 president of UF's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), as well as the UF representative for the 2010 Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Community Service Team. Among her other achievements, Kerr received the “CommuniGator” award for her service work at the gymnastics team's annual awards banquet, is a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, a four-time member of the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches Scholastic All-America team and was a recipient of the “Character Award” at the inaugural Florida Letterman Awards.
