University of Florida sophomore Mia Piccio (Bacolod City, Philippines), helped lead the Filipina national team as they tied for eighth place in the 2010 World Amateur Team Championships with a team score of 575 (-1). The eighth place finish is the best for the Philippines in this competition, topping the1968 team that finished ninth in Australia.
Piccio ended the competition with a 295 (+7), placing her in a tie for 48th out of 155 golfers on the individual leaderboard and three of her four rounds counted toward the Philippines' team score.
“This was our best finish ever,” Piccio declared. “In 1968, the Philippines finished ninth but this was the best we have ever done so we will take that. The experience of playing for my country was amazing.”
