Women's Basketball Practice Report, Oct. 6, 2010
Thursday, October 7, 2010 | Women's Basketball
The emphasis on the second day of practice was 'awareness' for the University of Florida women's basketball team, which held a two and half hour practice at the Terry Frost Practice Court inside the Florida Basketball Complex on Wednesday.
While the Gators may not have had quite the total awareness head coach Amanda Butler had planned, freshman Kayla Lewis (Decatur, Ga.) stepped up her performance and earned the team's daily 'Brickhouse' award.

It marked the second consecutive day a Gator newcomer received the honor, as junior Lanita Bartley (Jacksonville, Fla.) was named the Brickhouse winner on Monday.
“We had great competition in practice and that's what I'm most proud of today,” Butler said. “We threw the ball all over the gym and made a lot of mistakes which is what we anticipated with so many newcomers. That doesn't concern me as much as their response to those things does. I want to see toughness, resiliency and players who want to learn and get better and not repeat mistakes. At the end of the day, the competition stood out more than anything during practice.”
