
Florida's Barney & Annis on ESPN Academic All-District III Soccer Team

Two University of Florida soccer players earned spots on 2010 ESPN Academic All-District III teams. Sophomore McKenzie Barney is part of the district first team and junior Tahnai Annis appears on the district third team. Barney now advances to the national ballot.
Barney owns a 3.75 grade point average in telecommunication production. She shares second with Annis in the Southeastern Conference with 10 goals each and is fourth in the league for points (23). Barney has twice been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week and picked up the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Player of the Week after her game-winning goal at then No. 10 Florida State. She set the UF record for consecutive home appearances with a goal at nine (stretch spanned 2009 and 2010 seasons). She was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2009.
Annis is pursuing a degree in sports management and owns a 3.60 GPA. She was named to the All-SEC second team earlier today. Annis is second in the SEC in points (27). She was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week and to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week for the opening weekend of play after hitting both goals in UF's 2-0 win at then No. 25- UCF. It was the first of three double-goal matches for Annis this season. She was part of the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2009.
The Gators now head to the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach, Ala. Top-seeded Florida will open play with No. 8 seed Vanderbilt on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. (ET). The Gators have won eight SEC Tournament titles with the last coming in 2007.
