
Boynton Leads Gators to 88-62 Win

Sophomore Kenny Boynton (Pompano Beach, Fla.) recorded 22 points and three assists to lead the Gator men's basketball team to an 88-62 victory over Georgetown College on Wednesday night at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center in Florida's final exhibition game.
Boynton was 9-of-15 from the field and made 4-of-9 three-pointers. The guard has scored at least 22 points in each of his four career-exhibition games.
Florida has now won 20-consecutive exhibition games and has gone 2-0 in preseason action for each of the last nine years.
Junior Erving Walker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also contributed with 22 points of his own, six steals and seven assists, while senior Chandler Parsons (Casselberry, Fla.) finished with 10 rebounds, nine points and seven assists. Senior Vernon Macklin (Portsmouth, Va.) added 10 points and four rebounds in the win.
The Gators led 44-19 at the half after shooting 55.2 percent from the floor (16-of-29) and finished the game at 55.9 percent (33-of-59), while limiting Georgetown College to 43.9 percent (25-of-57) on the night.
Florida held the Tigers to 10 assists while recording 21 of its own from four different players. The Orange and Blue also stole the ball 15 times and forced 26 turnovers.
Vic Moses and Vincent Crutcher led Georgetown College in scoring with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Florida opens its regular season next Friday, Nov. 12 when it hosts UNC-Wilmington at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Sun Sports.
