The Showdown at The Swamp. That's what we'll call the South Carolina at Florida game on Saturday for the SEC East title.
The winner heads to Atlanta to play the SEC West champ on Dec. 4 in the SEC Championship Game.
Following the Gators' 55-14 win at Vanderbilt on Saturday, I asked a couple of UF beat writers if they thought the win would get the Gators back into the polls.
One didn't think so. Another thought the 55 points would earn them some votes and that they could probably sneak back in if some of the teams at the bottom lost.
Well, the latter was correct.
The Gators (6-3, 4-3 in SEC) are back in the national polls after a three-week absence, ranked 24th in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Meanwhile, despite getting thumped at home to Arkansas on Saturday night, the Gamecocks will come to town ranked two spots higher than the Gators in both polls.
A note of interest for college football fans in the Sunshine State: UCF cracked the Top 25 for the first time in school history.
The Knights are No. 25 in the AP poll and No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
