Six University of Florida players appear on National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Performance Subaru All-South Region teams, the outlet announced today. The six lead all programs represented in the three 2010 All-South Region teams and matches the school-record number of region representatives set in 1996 and also equaled in 1999.
Four Gators – senior Ashlee Elliott (Corona, Calif.), junior Tahnai Annis (Zanesville, Ohio), and sophomores Kathryn Williamson (McKinney, Texas) and Erika Tymrak (Lakewood Ranch, Fla.) – are All-South Region first-team selections. Senior Katie Fraine (Titusville, Fla.) and freshman Taylor Travis (Cary, N.C.) appear on the region's second team.
In 2010, Elliott returned from a medical redshirt to become an All-Southeastern Conference first-team selection, the third time of her career being named to the league's first team. This is Elliott's second time being named to an All- Region team, but first time on the region's first-team as she was named to the All-Southeast Region second team in 2008. In 2010 she started every match at center back and she finishes her UF career with 14 goals, 13 assists and 41 points.
This is Annis' first time being named to the All-South Region team. She was named to the 2010 All-SEC second-team after finishing second in the conference in goals (13) and points (33). Annis is seventh on the Florida career points list with 70 points off of her 28 goals and 14 assists.
In early November, Williamson was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and named to the All-SEC first team. She is the second consecutive Gator to earn the league's defensive player of the year honor, after Lauren Hyde received the honor last year. This season, Williamson started every match at center back and led all field players with an average of 88.29 minutes per match.
Tymrak, All-SEC first team and TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Season second team selection, is on the All-South Region team for the second consecutive season. Last year, Tymrak was one of only two freshmen to earn All-South Region honors with a third team selection. She started all but one match and appeared in all 24, leading the team and SEC in assists (13) and was third on the team in points (25) and fourth in goals (6).
Fraine ends her UF career with the school record for career solo shutouts with 27. This is her second consecutive year appearing on an All-South Region team. In 2010, Fraine missed just one start due to an injury and finished second in the SEC with a goals-against-average of 0.71.
As a freshman, Travis finished second on the team and third in the conference with her 11 assists and was fifth on the team with 17 points. She is the second Gator in program history, and first since 1997, to be named SEC Freshman of the Year. She was also named to the All-SEC second team.
During the 2010 season, Florida claimed the Southeastern Conference regular-season and tournament titles. It held top 10 national rankings in 10 of the 12 NSCAA polls of the season.
