University of Florida senior Francesca Enea (Woodland Hills, Calif.) was drafted ninth overall by the USSSA Pride of the National Pro Fastpitch League in the 2010 Senior Draft on Wednesday night. The Pride play in Kissimmee, Fla.
Enea begins her senior year with the Gators with a .310 career batting average and a .595 careering slugging percentage. She already owns the single-season and career home run (18, 41) and RBI (70, 156) records at UF.
Alabama's Charlotte Morgan was the first pick in the draft, also taken by the Pride. Each of the four-affiliate teams had at least three selections in the five-round draft. The Pride held seven of the 20 overall picks due to a draft-day trade in 2009.
The SEC and PAC-10 conferences led the way for the second consecutive year in this season's draft with five and four picks, respectively.
Due to NCAA regulations, an active college senior-athlete is not eligible to sign with her respective franchise until her 2010 season is completed. The NPF schedule runs from June until August.
