Lacrosse Game Time and Location Changed for Tuesday's Matchup with La Salle
Monday, February 22, 2010 | Lacrosse
The Florida lacrosse team is heading north for their first road trip of the season. The Gators will take on the La Salle Explorers at 12:30 p.m. at the Temple University lacrosse field.
The game was originally scheduled to be played at La Salle University, but more than 30 inches of snowfall in the Philadelphia area made the field conditions unplayable. The game time had to be changed from 3:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. to accommodate the new location.
Florida enters the matchup with a 1-0 record after beating Jacksonville 16-6 in the program's opener last Saturday. The Gainesville community made the university's newest team feel right at home, with a crowd of 2,114 coming out to support the team in their inaugural game.
The Gators were led by freshman attacker Ashley Bruns (Ellicott City, Md.), who had four goals and four assists against the Dolphins. Sophomore Rachael Zimmerman (Englewood, Colo.) controlled the midfield with 10 ground ball pickups, four caused turnovers and four draw controls.
La Salle has a 0-1 record after dropping a 12-11 decision at Navy in their opener. The Explorers' Stefany McKee scored three goals while Melanie Sarcinello had one goal and three assists.
