Former Gator Emmitt Smith Tabbed for Pro Football Hall of Fame

Former University of Florida running back Emmitt Smith was selected on Saturday for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
The National Football League's all-time leader in rushing yards (18,355) and rushing touchdowns (164), Smith also was part of three Super Bowl championship teams with the Dallas Cowboys and was the MVP in Super Bowl XXVIII and earned the league's MVP award in 1993. His 15-year NFL career with the Cowboys and the Arizona Cardinals included 11 consecutive seasons above the 1,000-yard rushing mark.
Smith becomes the second Florida Gator to earn admission into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, joining defensive end Jack Youngblood, who was enshrined in 2001.
A consensus All-America selection at Florida in 1989, Smith broke Neal Anderson's school rushing record, and Smith's 3,928 rushing yards now stands at the No. 2 position in school history.
"This is almost perfect," Smith told the Associated Press. "I don't think even Steven Spielberg could have written a script this nice. So many people said I could not do it. I believed in that little giant inside of me that said I can."
