Head Coach Mike Holloway Met with the Media on Monday
Monday, March 15, 2010 | Track and Field
University of Florida head coach Mike Holloway addressed the media Monday morning as part of the Gators' All-Sports Media Day.
Coach Holloway shared his thoughts on the men's team winning the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championship on Saturday, marking the first national title in school history for the men's program. The Gators scored 52 total team points and were led by individual national titles by Jeff Demps in the 60m and Christian Taylor in the men's triple jump.
He also shared his thoughts on the Gator women's team that placed fourth at the NCAA Indoor Championships, marking their highest indoor finish since placing second in 2005. Florida was led by individual NCAA titles by Charlotte Browning in the mile and Mariam Kevkhishvili in the shot put. Kevkhishvili became just the second woman in NCAA history to win three consecutive indoor shot put national championships.
Coach Holloway then discussed and fielded questions about his reaction when he realized Florida had won, on Christian Taylor and Mariam Kevkhishvili , on being able to win the program's first NCAA Indoor title and on making the transition to the outdoor track season.
