2010 NCAAs: Day Three Prelims Session

On the final day of competition at the 2010 NCAA Championships, the Gators advanced six individual swimmers to finals, including four in the championship heats of their respective events, after prelims Sunday afternoon. Seniors Omar Pinzon (Bogota, Colombia) and Shaune Fraser (George Town, Grand Cayman) qualified as the fastest Gators in the 200-yard back and 200-yard fly, respectively, while freshman Marco Loughran (London, England) solidified eighth in the 200 back after tying in prelims and winning the swim-off with Texas' Hill Taylor. Freshman Sebastien Rousseau (Cape Town, South Africa) will join Fraser in championship finals of the 200 fly Sunday evening after qualifying fifth in prelims.
Consolation swimmers Conor Dwyer (Winnetka, Ill.) and Brett Fraser (George Town, Grand Cayman) will take to the water in the 100-yard free, while senior Roland Rudolf (Budapest, Hungary) is slated to swim the 200 back as the 12th-place qualifier in the event.
In addition to its individual swims, Florida returns as the sixth-place 400-yard freestyle relay team, as Fraser (B), Dwyer, junior Matt Norton (Port Orange, Fla.) and Fraser (S) touched in at 2:52.90 in prelims.
In the morning session, several Gators set career-best marks, including Rousseau in his 200-yard fly race, and Norton in his individual preliminary swim of the 100-yard free, after touching in at 43.51 for 25th overall. Additionally, sophomore Jeff Raymond (Davie,Fla.) won his heat of the 200-yard fly to clock a 1:45.17 career-best time for 19th in the field.
