University of Florida senior Francesca Enea (Woodland Hills, Calif.) was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon, for her outstanding performance in the DeMarini Invitational in Fullerton, Calif., over the weekend.
The left field registered a .563 batting clip with four home runs, including three grand slams, one each day of the invitational, upping her season total to four and her career total to nine. She also brought her career home run total to 51, tying for second all-time in the SEC record book. With nine hits on the weekend, she extended her hit streak to 12 games, a career long that ties for the third-longest in UF history.
Enea, playing in her home state, tallied 14 RBIs, 23 total bases, a 1.428 slugging percentage and a .611 on-base percentage as the Gators (16-2, 0-0 SEC) went 4-1 on the weekend. She recorded game-winning runs against Cal State Fullerton and Loyola Marymount and her grand slam went down as the game-winning RBI against UC Davis. She also launched two homers in the win over tournament-host Fullerton, becoming the fourth Gator this season to complete the feat. She was one of two Gators to record a hit in the 2-0 loss to No. 10/12 Stanford on Friday.
The No. 3/10 Gators open the SEC schedule with a doubleheader against No. 6/8 Georgia in Athens, Ga., on Wednesday, March 10 beginning at 3 p.m. (ET). Both games can been see on Cox Sports Channel (Channel 259) and heard on WYGC 105 The Game (104.9 FM).
