Florida's Marissa King Picks Up Second SEC Freshman Gymnast of the Week Honor

The University of Florida's Marissa King is the Southeastern Conference Freshman Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. Seniors Casey Jo Magee of Arkansas and Susan Jackson of LSU shared the SEC Gymnast of the Week honor.
This is the second SEC Freshman Gymnast of the Week honor for King. A member of the Gator gymnastics team has been honored by the SEC six of the nine weeks of the 2010 season.
King used collegiate-best marks for three apparatus to share the all-around win at 39.475 with fellow Florida freshman Ashan?e Dickerson in the Gators' tri-meet win on March 5. The total is a collegiate-best for the 2008 Great Britain Olympian and the all-around win was her first as a Gator. She shared the floor exercise win with freshman teammates Dickerson, Liz Green and Randy Stageberg as she earned a collegiate-best 9.875. King was runner-up in vault with a collegiate-best 9.90 and shared third in the balance beam with her top mark of 9.875.
In the last three meets, King has set all of her collegiate-best marks, including upping beam, floor and all-around bests twice in the three-meet span. She is ranked No. 18 in the nation in the all-around (regional qualifying average: 39.220).
The No. 4 Gator gymnastics team returns to action Friday, March 19 at 7 p.m. against perennial power No. 9 Utah. Tickets are $4.00 for adults while children 17 and under and UF students with Gator1 cards are admitted free. The first 500 children (age 12 and under) receive a Gator bookmark. Area Domino's are distributing free admission tickets for the meet. It is also Senior Night and Florida's five member class will be honored in a post-meet ceremony.
