No. 4 Softball Takes on No. 6 Georgia in SEC Opener

The No. 4/11 softball team travels to Athens, Ga., on Wednesday to take on No. 6/4 Georgia in the first Southeastern Conference contest of the season. The two teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. (ET) at the Bulldogs' Soccer/Softball Complex.
The games will be televised on Cox Sports Television, which is channel 259 in Gainesville, part of the Sports Tier package. Fans can also listen to the radio broadcast on WYGC-FM 105 The Game, which can be found on 104.9 FM on the radio dial on streamed online on www.GatorZone.com. Live state will also be available through Georgia's website (www.GeorgiaDogs.com).
Florida holds a 28-16 all-time advantage over Georgia and a 13-6 record in Athens. The Gators have won the last eight meetings between the two teams, including 15-0 and 4-0 victories last year in Gainesville when UF racked up the most runs (15) ever given up by a Georgia team. Current junior Stephanie Brombacher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) pitched a one-hitter in the second shutout that night and senior Corrie Brooks (Christmas, Fla.) hit one of her four grand slams in the first win.
The Gators went 26-1 last season in the SEC to capture the league title for the season year in a row. Head coach Tim Walton earned his second Coach of the Year honor while seven players were named to an All-SEC team.
