Gators Among Nation's Top Five in Preseason Poll

The Florida track and field teams will begin the 2010 outdoor season the same way they closed the 2010 indoor season, as far as the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll is concerned.
The Gator men are ranked No. 1 and the Florida women are fourth nationally, according to the USTFCCCA Preseason Outdoor Track and Field Top-25, released Wednesday from the organization's offices in New Orleans, La.
The Florida men's track and field team, which captured the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championship and placed tied for second at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships, is ranked No. 1 in the outdoor preseason poll. Texas A&M is second and Oregon ranks third. Florida State (No. 4) and Texas Tech (No. 5) round out the men's top five.
The Gator women, who finished fourth at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships and placed ninth at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championship, checks in at No. 4 in the 2010 outdoor preseason poll. Texas A&M is ranked No. 1 in that poll, followed by Oregon (No. 2) and LSU (No. 3). The Gators (No. 4) and Florida State (No. 5) round out the women's top five.
The Florida track and field teams play host to the 66th Pepsi Florida Relays this Friday and Saturday at James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track.
