Monday, April 19, 2010 | Gymnastics
University of Florida head coach Rhonda Faehn addressed the media Monday morning as part of the Gators' All Sport Media Day.
Coach Faehn shared her excitement about the University of Florida playing host to the 2010 NCAA Gymnastics Championships, set for April 22-24 in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. It will be Florida's 28th NCAA Championship appearance in the meet's 29-year history.
The No. 2 seeded Gators appear in Session II of the NCAA Championships' semifinal competition on Thursday, April 22 at 7 p.m. (ET).
The top three teams in each of Thursday's sessions will advance to the NCAA Super Six on Friday, April 23 at 6 p.m. (ET), where the national team champion is determined.
Coach then commented on and answered several questions from the media, including topics about the pressure of hosting, on possibly competing on consecutive days, on peaking too early in the year, on scheduling fewer regular-season meets this season, as well as on coaching strategy, on the crowd on freshman Ashan?e Dickerson, on event specialist Alicia Goodwin and on having so many freshmen.
