Five Men's Basketball Players On Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll

Five University of Florida men's basketball players were named to the 2009-10 Winter SEC Academic Honor, Commissioner Mike Slive announced on Tuesday. Florida and Vanderbilt tied for the most men's basketball players to place on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Chandler Parsons, the Gators' third-leading scorer earned a spot on the squad, as did 2010 SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year Ray Shipman. Adam Allen and Hudson Fricke made the team for the second consecutive year, while Kyle McClanahan earned a spot on the team as well.
Florida has had 56 men's basketball SEC Academic Honor Roll members in Billy Donovan's 14 years with the Gators, the highest total in the Southeastern Conference in that time.
As a school, Florida had 53 total SEC Academic Honor Roll members from its winter sports in 2010, second in the league behind Alabama.
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
