Two University of Florida students will be randomly selected to serve as Guest Assistant Coaches on the sidelines for the Gator football team's 2010 Orange & Blue Debut presented by Scotts this Saturday, April 10, at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Each student will be given the chance to select the first offensive play for their respective team in Saturday's scrimmage. The promotion is one of several fan friendly initiatives set up for Saturday's game. To enter, UF students can send an e-mail with their name and contact information to the Gator Marketing e-mail account (promotions@gators.uaa.ufl.edu). Entries must be submitted by Noon on Friday, April 9. Current and former UF student-athletes and their family members are not permitted to enter.
Fans can enjoy several other new initiatives as they map out their plans for the day. Prior to the game, fans can stop by the Verizon Wireless Gator FanFest located outside of Gates 6 and 7 of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. FanFest features vendor booths, a pre-game concert by The Manor (10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.) and Eager Beaver (11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), and autographs from several Gator student-athletes (members of the men and women's track teams from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and members of the women's swimming team from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.). Fans can also stop by the Gator SportShop's annual “Great Gator Yard Sale” beginning at 9 a.m. outside of the Gator SportShop by Gate 9.
Once inside the gates, fans can cheer on former Gator greats in the inaugural Gator Alumni-Student Flag Football Game. Former Gators will take the field with UF students (in conjunction with the UF Rec Sports program) beginning at 11:45 a.m. Be on hand to cheer on Chris Doering, Jacquez Green, Willie Jackson, Jr., Travis McGriff and others prior to the scrimmage.
Prior to the game, fans can stop by the offices of participating Florida Farm Bureau insurance agents to pick up free admission passes to the game. For a complete listing of all game day information for the 2010 Orange & Blue Debut presented by Scotts, log on to GatorZone.com.
