The Florida athletics program swept the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group's Southeastern Conference All-Sports competition in 2009-10, taking the overall, men's and women's titles. It is the 10th sweep for the Gator athletics program.

The University of Florida athletics program swept the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group's Southeastern Conference All-Sports competition in 2009-10, taking the overall, men's and women's titles. It is the 10th sweep for the Gator athletics program and UF is the only school to collect all three titles in a single season.

The overall SEC All-Sports title is the 20th for Florida, while the Gator program also earned its 17th women's and 14th men's titles.

Did You Know…

·         Florida has claimed 193 Southeastern Conference team titles in its history, the most in the SEC. In the last 10 seasons, UF leads the league with 47 titles.

·         Florida won a league-high seven SEC titles in 2009-10. Alabama was second with four titles.

·         This is the third time UF has won seven titles in a single season (1996-97, 1997-08, 2009-10). UF's highest total is eight (1991-92) and Georgia equaled the SEC record with eight titles in 2005-06.

·         Florida has now won 20 Overall SEC All-Sports trophies

·         Florida's first Overall SEC All-Sports title came in 1987-88.

·         Florida is the only league program to collect all three titles (overall, men's and women's) in a single season.

The New York Times Regional Newspaper Group, which includes 14 newspapers throughout the Southeastern United States, awards trophies to the league school which captures each of those three all-sports titles. A first-place SEC finish is worth 12 points, second is given 11 points, and so on. The sports of cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field are combined. A program's outdoor track finish makes up half, while the remaining two quarters are based on the cross country and indoor finishes. A school's point total is divided by the number of sports it fields to arrive at the average. The New York Times Regional Newspaper Group took over coordination of the SEC All-Sports rankings in 1994-95. Prior to that, the league tabulated the SEC All-Sports totals.

Florida won seven regular-season SEC Championships in 2009-10 to raise its total to 47 since the 2000-01 academic year, the most by any conference school during the 10-year span. The Gators took the SEC crown in baseball, women's cross country, gymnastics, soccer, women's tennis, women's indoor track & field and men's outdoor track & field.

Florida finished this year with a total of 163 points in 16 sports to win the overall all-sports title with an average of 10.19 points. Georgia was second with an average of 8.31 points in 16 sports.

The Florida women stayed on top for the fourth consecutive year with an average of 9.72 (87.5 total points in nine sports). Georgia was second with 83.00 points (9.22 average for nine sports).

In men's competition, the Gators tallied 75.50 points for an average of 10.79 in its seven sports. The Mississippi men's program was second with its six sport average of 7.92.

UF is hopeful of finishing among the nation's top 10 most successful overall athletic programs for the 27th consecutive year when final national all-sports rankings are released July 1. Florida is the only school to finish among the nation's top 10 overall most successful athletic programs each year since 1983.
