Bruns Named WomensLax.com Rookie of the Year

University of Florida freshman attacker Ashley Bruns was named the 2010 Rookie of the Year by WomensLax.com, announced Friday. Bruns led the Gators in points (79), goals (48) and assists (31), leading Florida to a 10-8 record in its inaugural season.
The Ellicott City, Maryland, native was also named the ALC Rookie of the Year in 2010 and was named to the ALC Second Team. She was selected as the Nike/Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Week on April 5. Bruns was named the ALC Rookie of the Week three times this season and was named the national Rookie of the Week on two occasions.
Bruns led all freshmen nationally in total points and points per game (4.39), ranking in the top 15 nationally among all players in both categories. She also ranks among the top three freshmen nationally in assists and goals. Bruns finished the season ranked third in the American Lacrosse Conference in total points.
Against Marist on March 17, Bruns set school-records with six goals, four assists and 10 points in the Gators' 22-3 victory. Her 10-point total ranked as the fourth-best single game performance in the nation in 2010.
