Incoming Softball Player Invited to Junior Women's National Team Selection Camp

University of Florida incoming freshman Cheyenne Coyle (West Hills, Calif.) was one of 42 players who accepted an invitation to attend the 2010 USA Softball Junior Women's National Team selection camp, the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America announced on Wednesday.
The camp, which will take place at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., will run from Jun 10-13. The athletes, who are age 18 and under, represent 13 different states. Seventeen will be chosen for the 2010 USA Softball Junior Women's National Team on June 15.
The team will compete later this year at the III Pan American Softball Championship (18-and-under), August 6-15, in Bogota, Colombia. The event serves as a qualifier for the International Softball Federation (ISF) IX Jr. Women's World Championship (19-and-under), December 6-17, 2011, in Cape Town, South Africa.
Coyle, a senior at Chatsworth High School and member of the Orange County Batbusters, is boasting a 1.154 slugging percentage and a .637 on-base percentage to lead Chatsworth this season. The Chancellors are 21-5 with Coyle as a co-captain. She is batting .526 with a .995 fielding percentage and an 0.76 ERA in the circle.
A four-year varsity softball player, Coyle earned second-team all-league honors once and first-team honors twice. In 2009, she was a first-team all-city selection and earned honorable mention for an all-area honor while being named Chatsworth's MVP. In 2007, she was the Rookie of the Year.
