Men's Track and Field Second in Nation in All-Amerca Honors

Fresh off its NCAA runner-up finish at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Florida men's track and field team was second in the nation in All-America honors, according to a release by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, disseminated on Monday evening.
The Gator men tallied 15 All-America honors to place second in the nation, while Texas A&M led with 19, LSU was third with 12 and South Carolina, Arizona State and Southern Cal each racked up 11 All-America honors.
USTFCCCA All-America honors are awarded as a result of a national top-eight finish (regardless of nationality) at this past weekend's NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. Additionally, eight American citizens must be included among the All-America honors, resulting in more than eight All-America honors be awarded in a number of the events.
Senior sprinter Calvin Smith (Lutz, Fla.) capped his impressive career with two All-America honors to increase his career total to 18 All-America honors (indoors and outdoors combined). That is the men's school record for career All-America honors.
Included in the 15 All-America honors earned by Florida's men this weekend are individual national championships by Jeff Demps (Winter Garden, Fla.) in the 100-meter dash, Christian Taylor (Fayetteville, Ga.) in the triple jump and the men's 4x100-meter relay.
