Bradley Ally (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.), Rodion Davelaar (Willemstad, Netherland Antilles) and Omar Pinzon (Bogota, Colombia) took home medals Monday at day two of the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Ally earned gold in the 400-meter individual medley (4:21.49), Pinzon won gold as part of the Colombian 4x200-meter freestyle relay team (7:31.16) and Davelaar captured silver in the 50-meter breaststroke (28.61).
Ally (2005-09), who set the meet record in 2006, broke the record once again in the 400 IM. The 23-time All-American (third-most in school history) also represented Barbados as the flag bearer at the opening ceremonies this past Sunday.
Pinzon captured his second gold medal in as many days, joining his Colombian teammates on the 4x200 free relay medal stand. The 17-time All-American (2006-10) became the first Gator to win multiple medals at this year's games. The time of 7:31.16 was also a meet record.
Davelaar, a redshirt sophomore and 2008 Olympian, set a personal best in the 50-meter breast with a time of 28.61. His silver medal was the first podium finish for the Netherlands Antilles during these games.
