The Southeastern Conference announced the television schedule for the opening three weeks of the 2010 football season as well as select games to be aired late in the campaign. The Florida Gators will kick off the season on Saturday, September 4, hosting the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks at 12 p.m. on ESPN. This marks the 23rd consecutive time that Florida will begin the season at home. The lone previous meeting between the teams was at the 1973 Tangerine Bowl.
The following Saturday, Florida faces the South Florida Bulls for the first time ever in an intrastate showdown that will be televised on the SEC Network at 12:21 p.m. Then on September 18, the Gators open the SEC on CBS' 2010 football coverage with their first road contest—a trip to Neyland Stadium where they will begin SEC play with an encounter against the Tennessee Volunteers at 3:30 p.m.
Additionally, the traditional Florida-Georgia fixture on October 30 in Jacksonville has been selected to be broadcast nationally on CBS in the 3:30 p.m. time slot for the eighth-consecutive year.
Aside from the four determined game telecasts, network partners will select other games for broadcast, which will decide start times, at least 12 days prior to each contest.
