Roberto Gomez Wins Gold and Bronze at Day Four of 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games

Roberto Gomez (Weston, Fla.) became the sixth Gator to earn a medal at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games, taking home the gold and bronze medal Wednesday night in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
Gomez, a member of the Venezuelan National Team, won gold in the final event of day four as part of the Venezuelan 400-meter freestyle relay team. The time of 3:22.35 was a record for the CAC Games. The Florida alum (2008-10) also took home bronze in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 23.09.
An All-SEC selection last season, Gomez was a four-time All-American during his tenure in Gainesville, picking up his third and fourth career All-America honors at the 2010 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
