Gator Goalkeeper Katie Fraine on 2010 Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Watch List

University of Florida senior Katie Fraine (Titusville, Fla.) is among the 45 players included in the Women's 2010 Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Watch List released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) today.
Last December, Fraine became the first Gator goalkeeper to earn NSCAA All-South Region first-team honors. She was the 2009 All-SEC first team goalkeeper selection and named goalkeeper for the first team on TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Season. She led the SEC in 2009 with her goals-against-average of 0.61 in league play. Fraine registered a career-high 10 shutouts in 2009. She shared the 2009 lead in shutouts in SEC matches (6) with LSU's Mo Isom. Earlier this week, Fraine was one of five Gators named to the SEC Preseason team. She is the first Gator to appear on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List since All-American Lauren Hyde appeared on the 2007 and 2008 lists.
During the course of the 2010 regular season, Florida will face four other teams with players on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List - Auburn (1 player), Florida State (2), North Carolina (2) and South Carolina (1).
Considered the highest individual honor in intercollegiate soccer, the MAC's Hermann Trophy recipient is selected by Division I head coaches who are current NSCAA members. In November, the list will be narrowed to 15 semifinalists. Three finalists will be named in early December. They will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club on for a news conference on January 7, 2011, where the winner will be announced.
Florida soccer opens the 2010-11 competitive campaign for the Gator athletic program when it plays host to Miami on Friday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. The UF-Miami match will air live on Sun Sports.
