Gator Golfer Andres Echavarria Qualifies for 2010 U.S. Amateur Tournament

University of Florida golfer Andres Echavarria (Medellin, Colombia) qualified for the 2010 U.S. Amateur Tournament with his finish at the Orange County National Golf Course in Winter Garden, Fla., on Tuesday.
Echavarria will join teammates Bank Vongvanij (Bradenton, Fla.) and Philip Choi (Orlando, Fla.) at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash., to compete in the U.S. Amateur Tournament Aug. 23-29.
This qualification marks Echavarria's third appearance in the U.S. Amateur Tournament, but first since 2007. He also qualified in 2006.
“It is going to be fun to be back again after not qualifying for two years,” said Echavarria. “I am playing really well and feel like my chances are good to do well in this prestigious tournament.”
